I wish I could give this product more than the max 5 stars - my project was to convert my vinyl record collection to MP3. The instructions which came with the product were clear although I had also worked through the tutorials on the Audacity software website beforehand. I had Audio Capture working within minutes of receiving it. Now one week later I have worked through more than half of my considerable collection. I am going to buy this product for birthday gifts for my friends - every "silver surfer" who has a vinyl collection should have one of these. B R I L L I A N T product, thank you.

Initially a bit tricky to set-up as I had lots of distortion. This was solved by connecting directly to the record player output instead of the line out of the amplifier, but once set-up and having removed the background noise using the software, successfully transferred all the tracks of a record to high quality MP3 files (once the extra DLL was downloaded to enable this). I have not try using the 3.5mm input as I did not have a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adaptor available, although I will try this at some point.

Seems to work very well. Very disappointed to find that it came with a 3.5mm jack to plug into my tape player/system. Quite why this is the case given the rarity of that type of headphone socket I do not know... A trip to Maplin later and another £2.50 spent and it's ready to use...

Product working as described. The only reservation is in the quality of the manual found in the "Help" menu. The "Quick Start" booklet is fine, and gets you up and running quickly. However, once you need more information on how to get the best out of the features, there are gaps in the manual, (as well as some links that don't appear to work). Also the headings, based on the drop down menus available, are not necessarily self explanatory. For example, I tried in vain to find a satisfactory explanation of how, once you have copied your "project", say a vinyl album, you can then break it into tracks without selecting sections at a time, and saving them individually. A time consuming process. Yes you could save the whole thing, but you need to be able to pick out particular tracks, if required. So the sub standard manual loses the product a star, I'm afraid.

Works well, although,so far I have only used it to transfer cassette tape to MP3. This worked fine without any other adjustments needed. Later, I have some 78's to transfer, and I hope the effects section can be used to minimise the record noise successfully.

Hardware worked fine but needs extra setup instructions depending upon the operating system being connected to if you want to "monitor" your recording, that is, hear it played back and see a waveform generated as you make the recording. The lack of both sound and a waveform stumped me for some time until I found some information on the Internet. On Windows XP, go to: ‘Start’, ‘Control Panel’, ‘Sounds and Audio Devices’, ‘Audio tab’, ‘Sound Playback – Volume’, then unmute the line-in, and/or turn the volume up. Mine was unmuted but had no volume.

The gadget itself is far more excellent. Very easy to use and does more of what I do expect it to do. Software wise, well, I'm having trouble in separating the tracks after the recording process from my sources (probabaly I'm still not familiar with its functions) but tried fiddling around and still can't make it. Fortunately, it works with Sony's SonicStage Mastering Studio which comes with my laptop. I'm very pleased of their combined performance to digitize my treasured teenage music collections. Highly recommended gadget and good value-for-money as well. More power and hoping for more innovations to come!

The product works well but the whole process is not exactly easy. There is a lot of changing wires and plugs when recording music to the computer hard drive. The instruction manual is clear except for the diagrams on how to connect the cables between the recorder and the computer. As this is one of the vital parts of the process I would have thought it merited more than very small and poorly printed diagrams. There were a lot of cables in the box I presume one set are just extensions - although nothing is said about them in the instructions - and there is an additional plug supplied and I don't know what it is for although it talks about male to male connections - which I don't understand. So, overall a better explanation of the plug-in set up would be useful as we are not all audiophiles. [T2 Direct Response] - We have now uploaded a set-up and troubleshooting guide (FAQs), which should hopefully help with any issues that may arise.

The product hardware works fine. The software supplied with it does not have as much functionality as I thought it would - many of the function options are "greyed out" in the menu, suggesting that there is more highly functioned version available. In particular, I was expecting the software to be able to automatically detect the "silences" between tracks and allow an LP to be split into separate tracks automatically, but it does not appear to be able to do this. There is a menu option for "detect silence" but it is greyed out and not selectable.

The instructions are spartan and specifically do not cover the use of the adaptor to record to CDs but are more geared to MP3. There is a lack of volume control. Only by using full volume and maximum gain can an effective recording be accomplished.

Does just what I want it to, capturing music from a good turnable/ tone arm/ cartridge combination, with an end-to-end process for converting to MP3, incorporating in my I-Tunes library, and backing up. Some minor niggles with the software, hence 4 star rating rather than 5. Higher fidelity bit rates should be offered. The process for converting a vinyl album to MP3 could be smoother; the need to assign individual track names and track numbers by entering file properties after exporting to MP3 is tedious. Lack of an on-line manual; possibly there are answers to all the above, but I couldn't find them in Help. I am sure I am not using this software to its full capabilities.
