Pros: Easy to assemble and use.
Cons: Slighly heavy, but the carry strap makes this easy to carry around

Makes those out of reach branches safe to get to, as your firmly rooted to the ground. I'd recommend.

Pros: starts first time every time, oregon saw unit cannot be bettered
Cons: with extension unit need care to balance the unit without straining oneself

Seemingly well built, dare I say much better than expected, and very useful tool that has been put to good and fairly extensive use. The tube locking system appears frail yet works well, though one of the small springs had been installed in reverse and fouled the entry of the tube end. Easily sorted but I have a mechanical mind. Well pleased

Q&As

There are 8 Questions | 8 Answers for this product
Q: Do I need to add oil to the petrol and if so, what type and how much? 1 answer
A: Yes you do as unlike 4-stroke engines, 2-stroke engines do not have a separate oil reservoir and the cylinder will only be lubricated if oil is mixed in with the petrol. The fuel to oil ratio is 25:1 -that’s 25 parts petrol to 1 part oil. Only use oil that is clearly marked “ 2-Stroke Engine Oil”. This can be obtained from petrol stations, most DIY outlets and shops and other retail outlets selling gardening equipment.

Q: What petrol should I use and can I also use diesel? 1 answer
A: Use ordinary petrol 91 octane or above. On no account use diesel.

Q: How should I mix the petrol and oil? 1 answer
A: For your convenience we have supplied a measuring container with this equipment. Instructions are clearly marked on the outside of the container to achieve a 25:1 mix. After filling the container with petrol to the required mark, add the required measure of 2-stroke oil. Screw on the top of the container and finish by shaking vigorously before filling the petrol tank on the motor. On no account try and mix the petrol and oil in the machine’s tank.

Q: What happens if I forget to add the oil... Will I damage the engine? 1 answer
A: Even using the engine for a very short time without sufficient oil mixed with the petrol will probably render the engine useless. No oil = no lubricant = a seized cylinder = an engine probably beyond repair and not covered under your warranty.

Q: Does my machine require regular servicing from a qualified engineer? 1 answer
A: Generally speaking, 2-stroke engines are normally extremely reliable and require very little actual maintenance provided you take care when using on a day-to-day basis and follow a few basic common-sense rules. Make sure you use the correct petrol/oil mix, keep the air cleaner filter clean (see manual) and when storing the machine for prolonged periods (more than a couple of months), ensure you follow the instructions in the operation manual.

Q: What happens if my machine won’t start? 1 answer
A: Refer to the trouble-shooting guide in the manual. If the fault cannot be rectified by yourself, call the Eckman Helpline on 0871 590 5917 or go to www.eckmanuk.com

Q: Does the Brush cutter and Graass Trimmer come supplied with their own connector pole? 1 answer
A: Both items share the same pole – you simply switch the heads between the brush cutter and the grass trimmer.

Q: What are the improvements of this model (EA003) compared to the previous model (EA001) 1 answer
A: The improvements are:
1) A more professional 2-stroke engine: in place of the original half crankshaft single bearing 30cc model, this new 32.6cc engine has a full crankshaft supported by two bearings, the advantages of which provide increased reliability and longevity, better balance with much reduced vibration, improved starting and far easier servicing.
2) Harder wearing (longer lasting) square profile drive shafts in place of star-shaped shafts.
3) Increased the length of the extra Extension Pole (originally costing an extra £9.95 but now supplied free of charge), from 76cm (30”) to 1m (39 ¼”), increasing the overall maximum reach from approximately to 300cm (9ft 10”) using the branch lopper. The maximum reach using the hedge trimmer attachment and additional extension pole is 278cm (9ft 1 ¾”).
